YES
Yes if you get that car and assuming it is clean and it is CPO for 45K even with bad tires is a GREAT bargain.....and a great deal. Assuming like others said you like the color, options etc... for 45K cpo would even say is a fantastic deal....
So you're saying the 2006 guards red "S" / Black/tan full leather,
22k miles, one owner, that the owner is considering accepting
my $45k cash offer is reasonable.
The owner will work to get it CPO'd through Porsche since
he bought it new and the dealer would buy the car and sell
it to me, CPO'd.
It does need tires -- original rubber on 22k miles.

I was under the impression that dealers just don't CPO cars for the hell of it, so getting this done for a private party transaction wasn't easy. Doesn't one need a "connection" at the dealer to get them to do this? Or am I mistaken?

Not sure what region in the country you're looking to buy this. The dealers I've worked with in NJ are all not having problems selling these cars. It was very hard to work out a deal. I simply used the KBB.com as my guideline for what I should be paying. Every dealer I went to as I got closer to purchasing was packed with customers. Maybe this is the case in regions with higher average incomes. Maybe. In NJ you won't be able to get a 2006 C2S with 20k for under 50k. Princeton Porsche had a Black/Black C2S with about 21k miles and I couldn't get them below 54k CPO'd.

is very close with the dealer and has purchased nearly $300k worth
of cars in the last five years from him (talk about massive depreciation). I would say the dealer should be able to work with him on CPOing the car.

A dealer in N. Kalif that I've bought 5 P-cars from has a car similar to what you're looking at - it's a '06, red with 10k mi., xenons, mats, heated seats. They're asking $49k, and my experiences with this dealer suggest there is quite a bit of wiggle room in that asking price.

We pay PCNA, plus the cost of repairs - minimum three hours for the inspection + oil change, anything not up to spec, or in the case of tires, brakes, etc. under 50% gets replaced.
Mid $40s is a good price for the subject car.

If you can get a 06 S with 22K for $45 do it. Search Porsche.com and those cars are mid to high 50's to way up in the 60's. Non S cars are a different story.
