Default Need help with balance/shimmy/shake/???

Dear Abby,

First, thanks to kdurg for some insight.

I've had this problem since I bought my 07 997s used in November.

The car has a shimmy in the wheel between 45-65 mph.

I took it to Discount for a balance and the guys said the two drivers side wheels were out of round. They zero'd out, but were visibly out of round to him.

So, i took those two wheels into Wheels America to get fixed.

Wheels Am didnt say what was wrong with them, but said they were now fixed.

The shimmy is still there.

I talked to a racer today and he said that the problem is caused by one of three issues:
1. wheels/tires need balancing
2. wheels bent
3. radial run out with the tires.

Since I had 1 and 2 done (assuming Wheels Am really fixed them)

The problem is 45 - 65 mph.

I can see and feel the shimmy in the steering wheel, but I can also feel the shimmy in the pedal.

The shimmy is more obvious on certain roads (country roads).

I had the 20k service done at the stealer in Nov and they checked the alignment at that time.

Any suggestions?

Sincerely,

Shimmy and a Shake

I just had tires put on and the installer showed me one of my front wheels was slightly out of round as well. I do not feel any shimmy in the car.

When you say you can feel it in the pedal I suspect you may have a warped or out of round brake rotor.

problem solved now.....had them rebalanced and road forced one wheel which would not balance. When they were balanced 5 months ago, they did a static balance (weights in the center of the wheel). This time they did a dynamic balance (weights on both sides).

i probably didnt describe the pedal issue correctly....it was on the floor board, thus i felt it in the throttle and brake
