5,000 miles and no problems. I have the soot, but consider that an annoyance, not a problem. Experienced high oil consumption until about 500 miles ago, and now it seems to have stopped. Will know more in a couple of thousand more miles. Very happy with the car to date. 997.2 C2S Cab PDK.

"Transmission Fault", "Transmission emergency run"
Got a new 2009 911 C2S CAB PDK February 27, 2009. I pulled it out of the garage to wash it for the first time. I backed it out 25 feet onto the flat driveway, then went to pull forward a little, when the transmission would not engage into any gear and the message, "Transmission Fault", then "Transmission emergency run" read on the gauge screen. I turned the ignition off, then back on and it was fine, drove it 30 miles later that day, no problem. It was driven about 40 miles the day before the incident, with no problem. The car has just over 400 miles on it.

2009 Carrera S PDK delivered 9-27-08.

Oil burning and soot problem. Other than that the car runs good and starts every time.

997.2 C2 with PDK. 1,500 miles so far. Added one quart of oil; consumption was heavier initially than now. Some soot in the tail pipes.

997.2 w/PDK - 1800 miles; oil level gauge shows one open bar at top which equals 0.42 quarts - waiting to add any oil until two open bars show. Overall gas mileage equals 22.5 MPG on pretty even mix of city and highway (highway @ approx. 80 MPH on road trip to Austin, 25.2 MPG on that 400 mile total trip; city mileage pretty consistently 22.0 which includes fair amount of stop-and-go traffic).

Insides of exhaust tips are black but nothing like issues some have described.

Overall, very happy with this vehicle.

1100 miles and no problems. It's still too early to tell. I've added one quart of Mobil 1, but I did the same with my 997.1 S.

997.2 C2S. 1450 miles and loving it. Added about 1/2 quart of Mobil 1. Had PCM lock up for a minute with IPod but fixed itself and hasen't happened again.

DO NOT ADD OIL UNTIL THE LOWER PORTION OF THE LEVEL GAUGE IS FLASHING!

T R U S T M E!

You can easily over fill a 997.2! Try this....check your oil when you get home in the garage. Note the reading. Then turn the car off for 3-5 minutes...restart the car and re-check the oil. You will see a higher level reading!

The oil level reading gauge is very erratic and can not be used as an absolute reading.

I checked mine 3 times before I added any. I was at the bottom bar at night after work. Same thing in the morning - added 1/2 qt. After the morning drive to work, it showed the first two bars above the bottom. Drove home, checked again, one bar above - added the other 1/2 qt. Now it shows at the top bar (no flashing or warnings). Oil temp/pressure show normal.

why not check the oil with the dip stick...especially since it sounds like Porsche gauge/level reading system isn't wondered....or did they eliminate it ....
