The best part of this whole story (for me) is that my wife was most assuredly NOT a car person when we met. I had my 997S back then and she could care less. She knew it was a Porsche because she lived so many years in Germany, but other than that... pfft. Now she's calling out cars - "Oh look, it's a Boxster S!" So I'll ask how she can tell - "It's got the twin exhaust pipes!"

Chris:

I like your story. My wife has a new A3 and loves it (she calls it "Audri"). I've had my 997 C2S cab since last summer and she's been my passenger for at least 7,000 of the 10K miles I've driven. I used to ask her if she wanted to drive it and she always said no. I hardly ever ask any more, and when I do she still says no. No reason given. I guess most owners would be fine with my situation, but I kind of wish she would at least once, so she could feel what it's like behind the wheel.

Next month we're going to the PCA Northeast Chapter annual ramble in upstate NY (near Cooperstown). I'm a new member, but they've got a very active chapter. I was told there are 120 cars signed up so far. Maybe when we're among them for a few days she'll get the bug. If not then, probably never.

Gene

Wifey and I no longer go for drives together, unless she rides in the SL55 with me. If we take any type of drive in a Porsche, she will be driving the C2S and I will be in the RS, with two way radios. She did about 30 autocross events last year. One autocross last season we had to co drive the C2S because my RS was in for RMS again. I drove the C2S to the event and had her drive the Caymen slush box and she whinned like a stuck pig. I didn't hear the end of it for days.
She took first in her division at the Zone one event. Who cares if she was the only woman driver in her class, hardware is hardware

Gene - I think you nailed it. I wanted her to know why I love my 911 so much and now she knows... I don't know if you caught it earlier, but my wife has an A3 as well (great minds... ).

That's awesome... My next goal - get her to learn to drive a manual transmission. You need to post some pics this season!!

My fiance is on her 3rd Cayenne (Turbo, S and now a straight Cayenne) and had a Boxster S. She absolutely loves the '06 C4 and just drove it back from Denver to Telluride a couple weeks ago. The best news...it totally turns her on! She can't wait to drive the '98 C4S we just got and are picking up in a week and a half in Flordia. It's all good!

Now that is ideal. Does she have any unmarried sisters that think that way?

Hey Jwdwight: We may be confusing people with our similar avatars.

I love the fact that my SO loves to drive my Porsche. If I had to get rid of one or the other, it would be the car.

My wife has no interest in cars but completely understand and supports my interest. She'll go to races with me and provide great moral support and when I go off to instruct at an HPDE she'll wish for me to have a good time.
Could it get any better than that??

My wife - and my daughter - love our Porsche - I wouldn't have it any other way.
