PCM2.1 and Mp3 capability

Guys, A friend of my has an early 2005 997 Carrera 2 with PCM 2.1. We noticed that he is not able to play Mp3 by using the CD. My 2007 has no problem with that. Is there a way to upgrade the system.

Thank you for posting this, I kept thinking I was crazy as my '05 wouldn't play MP3s

You would need to replace the PCM with a MY 2006+ unit.

Precisely correct.

Hardware is required.

Get one of the IPOD adapters; they're better and less expensive then a new or used late model PCM.

I heard that there were 2 CD's with new firmware to load through your CD player to upgrade to new software which includes Mp3 capability. I saw this posted somewere but cann't find it anymore.
