Default 997 remoteKEY Question

All -
I was reading about the 997 remoteKEY and it sounds pretty cool, but I have one question:

From the website:
"Chirp on lock/unlock: If activated, the alarm horn will give brief "chirp"signals when locking/unlocking the car."

So it will chirp when you unlock the car too? What's the point of that?
Does anyone know if this can be set to only chirp when the car is locked?

THANKS!

Not that I know of, Chirp on both lock & unlock. A least you are sure of locking.
Plus, all the other extras!

Programming is very easy once installed, however it is very limited. For most options it is on or off.

Lock is one beep, unlock is two beeps. Works very well if you lock you car as you are walking away. No need to look at the car to make sure it is locked.

Another feature that I like is the one touch up and down on the passenger's side window.

Yup, as edward_generation indicated, I'd imagine it works like the key of the other automakers -- one chirp for lock, two for unlock. Straight-forward and simple. Don't know why the Porsche factory key isn't already intuitive like this.

Turn off the chirp if it's a problem for you and just enjoy the trunk open delay, passenger window one touch up & other stuff if you don't have sport chrono.

If only they had a Targa version.. and by Targa version, I mean one that supports the automatic opening and closing of the Targa roof with the remote.

I agree, but I expect there are too few to make it worthwhile. Even a one-touch open and close would be an improvement. Perhaps a safety concern.

$500....u gotta be kidding. Now I'm really pissed at Porsche for being engineering dyslexic.

Actually, thats not the case. I contacted the company that makes the Smart-xxx widgets and the indication I got from them was they certainly could and would develop a Targa Top control version IF they could get their hands on a Targa to use for testing and development. What they need, afaik, is a volunteer in California to help them by providing a car they can test things out on.

Smart top is the best mod for the cab! $500 is steep indeed but it is well worth the price. I very rarely use the top button on the console. I always use my key to open and close the top.
