Inventory surplus
A month ago I called them to discuss buying a new car, they did not seem very interested is discussing any discount. Compared to other dealers they were over ten thousand dollars out of the ball game. I guess they think the market is going to turn around for them.
I ordered my car from a dealer that was willing to be realistic about the market and pricing.

Many dealers still have plenty of NEW '08's sitting in the back. And yes, they are all suffering. But they won't freely admit it. There's a few good dealers out there, and one in fact right here on RL who is probably worth asking if you're looking: likemystoppie
Good luck. I would think any dealer worth his salt would take a serious offer on any in stock vehicle right now to get out from under floor plan, and build allocation for later when things hopefully improve.

I test drove a 2006 C2S at Champion this past weekend. First thing out of the sales persons mouth was that he would be willing to discount a 2009 by 10% of MSRP.
I don't think so - they are making money at that number. As I think I understand it, Porsche "changed" the way they show invoice. So if you look at KBB or one of the other sites, you'll see the "old" way they calculate, which might show 12% in the car. Some dealers told me there's only 10% in the cars now because Porsche changed things. Then one dealer sort of fessed up and said something like "2% was moved, but we still get it". So, I'm guessing that at my 10.3% off deal, they still are making $1500, which is about 1.7% of the $90,390 MSRP.
I emailed internet sales guy at Hennessey a few weeks ago about an '09 C4S. He was not willing to do much in the way of discounting off MSRP. I bought new from them in '06. I told them I'd look elsewhere, and apparently that's ok with them, because I've not heard back from them. Which is ok with me too.
I was about to post that my search of SoCal dealers a few days ago revealed an incredible lack of inventory. But there must have been something wrong with the system, because I just checked a few dealers, and they are still LOADED with inventory, including a bunch of 08's.
