this is what performance cars and racing is all about folks...building a car to beat, or sidestep legislation (or in F1 for example..the rulebook... the "formula" if you will). Porsche engineers, like most other car companies (well..ok maybe not Chrysler), have R&D teams who do nothing but find ways to extract X performance with Y restrictions in place.

The 911's day will eventually draw to an end, but no so long as i'm alive! Bring on the 998/991...we still have corvettes and skylines to beat up on!

"Das letzte gebaute Auto wird ein Porsche sein" (Ferry Porsche)
The last ever built car will be a Porsche.

Shouldn't do much. The idea is to provide some panel deformation space between the hood and the hard parts beneath it, but that's not an issue with rear- and mid-engined cars.

Certainly not while sales are strong and profits are high...

I guess in today's economic climate "strong" and "high" are relative claims...

Of course. Current 911 sales are still a whole lot better than during Porsche's darkest days.

Kind of amusing, isn't it?

We are bailing out the auto industry because the cars that the government mandated they build do not sell and now the companies are bankrupt.

Congress' answer it to give them a whole bunch of our money and then demands that they build even more of those cars that the public does not want.

Bravo! And there are calls for nationalization of our banking industry, too?
