Broken Cup Holder
My wife wasn't paying a lot of attention while getting out of our 997 the other day, and snapped the hinged bottom out of the passenger cup holder. I've tried searching the forum and a general "google" search, without much luck. I've got to believe she's not the only one who has done this and there must be an after-market availability for this part.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Karl

KArl,
It looks like you need #17 in the PET diagram below. Since you have a C2S I believe the part number you need is 997-552-174-02. However, you should have the person at the parts counter verify this.
Hope this helps.

Very easy to remove assembly for fix or part replacement. 2 screws and pull out.

Too funny Dan. Yes, she had been drinking -- coffee!
The problem was not closing it before getting out of the car. The small hinge which rests under the cup took a direct hit from her knee and broke off fairly easily.
Tim, thanks for the parts list. and Larrytrk, thanks for the flickr link. Took a look at that yesterday.

Another reason never to eat or drink in your car. You might have cut down on your coffee intake after see want your Porsche parts department wants for the part. lol
It's been my experience on German cars that parts that you think will be expensive aren't and little insignificant ones are. I guess they need to spread the overhead evenly around.

Years ago (1998 to be exact) I was looking to buy a BMW 535 and went for a test drive w/ one of Vasek Pollack's German salesmen.
As we're driving out of the lot I sort of reviewed the dashboard, etc. and asked the question "Where are the cup holders"?. The salesman looks at me with great disdain and says . . . . 'Vee don't drink coffee on zee autobahn . . . . No cup holders are needed".

I am afraid to use mine...they look so fragile and flimsy. I thought they were just for looks and to make the american owners happy that they had cup holders
