Last year I ordered a 2008 C4S Cab with the Carrera Sport wheels. I wanted the wider wheels (8.5x19 front and 11.5 x 19 rear). When the car came in it had the correct "looking" wheels but it had wheel spacers on the rear wheels. The spacers look like 15 or 17mm, about 3/4 inch in thickness. There is no mention of spacers on the build sheet and the salesman has no idea why they are on there. The only spacers you could order were 5mm.
He checked with the person that orders the cars and was told "in 07 & 08 some times when they were building the cars, the "correct width wheels were not available and they would add the spacers to bring the track to the published width" I think that answer is ridiculous. I asked them to contact PAG to get an answer.
Have any of you ever heard of this happening on a special order car?

This is normal. Carrera Sport wheels have offsets that work on Narrow body cars (Carrera Sports have 55 mm front offset, 67 mm rear offset). Since wide body cars like yours require approx 50mm rear offsets, the factory puts the 17mm spacers on the rear wheels. Your rim widths are still correct (8.5, 11.5), and with the rear spacers the wheels fit correctly on your wide body car. Your salesman should have known this, as all wide body cars with Carrera Sports have these spacers.

I need to update mine with the red tail lights.
Oh, uh hum...and for the record, there is nothing wrong with putting wide body wheels on a narrow body car. I have wide body classic five spokes on my narrow body car and it looks fantastic!
