Option Code 741 "Press Vehicle"?
Recently purchased 2005 C2S Cabriolet from private party.
Trying to figure out what options my car has. Went to dealer who printed out VIN report that lists the following options:
342 Heated seats
405 19 inch carrera classic whee
446 Wheel centre set
640 Sport Chrono Package Plus
680 Bose
741 Press vehicle
P01 Adaptive Sport Seats
But car also has black full leather interior and painted seat backs, neither of which option is listed on the VIN report. Are those options part of the "press vehicle" option??? If so, are there other optons included in the "press vehicle" that I have not yet discovered?
Any help appreciated!

I suspect this is similar to one of the options on my Boxster. I can't find my window sticker right now, but it had an option listed as "launch code". It was one of the first 987s produced and all of these had the same set of options and colors. I suspect your car was built with a pre-determined set of colors and options and intended to be reviewed by magazines, tv shows, etc.

Where was the ordering dealer? When I lived in Ann Arbor, the dealer there often had these cars on their lot. Automobile, Car and Driver have headquarters there, and Autoweek is nearby in Detroit. The magazines would have the car for a while, sometimes their long term fleet or maybe just testing for an article. There was a yellow Boxster S , and they had the Car and Driver with it featured on the cover. Would have been a cool piece of history to go with the car.

I am almost certain that is the launch car code; I bought a launch car C2S on launch day and I'm sure it has a 7xx code. It doesn't really mean anything, other than it was in the first batch of cars released for the initial 997 launch.

I could be wrong, but I believe the code means something other than when car was released because the car has several options (full leather and painted seat backs at a minimum), neither of which is listed on the dealer print-out of options. Thanks in advance for any help out there for a new p-car owner!

Look at the option codes that should be on a white sticker on the inside of the front hood; that should have all options listed including full leather and painted seat backs.
