Default Nav question on 997.1

I drove the P car in to the office today and had to take it on a customer call. I know the answer is going to be in the owners manual but I took it out of the glove box a few weeks back for tire information and keep forgetting to put it back in.

My question is..

How can I turn off the audio instructions for the navigation without muting the whole unit? I want to continue to listen to the radio but don't want the verbal instructions. I know you can do that... and again I know it's buried in the manual... but I'm hoping one of you has a quick and easy answer for me off the top of your heads.

Thanks in advance.

De-select active navigation and all that will go away.

If you insist on keep the route guidance then you will have to go in and change the volume differential between the guidance voice and the regular stereo (music, etc.) I would set the nav to the lowest setting in that case.

Hi Dan.

First of all, thanks for the response.

I don't want to de-select navigation as I want to continue to receive the instructions on the PCM screen and in the instrument binnacle. I just don't want the voice commands.

I tried adjusting the volume differential but maybe I'm not doing it right because the PCM still cuts out the sound on the radio or CD for an instant while the voice commands are given.

My Lexus nav has a simple, easy way to disable the voice commands and I can't seem to figure out how to do that with the Porsche unit.

Hit the repeat button and then immediately lower the volume all the way down.

Won't that turn down the volume of the CD/Radio that I'm listening to as well?

No that controls the nav voice level. But only if you press repeat first.

Thanks.
