Default Comparing short shifters

I would like to compare the factory short shifter kit to B&M short shifter kit.
Which one do you prefer? and recommend?
And why?

I have the B&M....works great. I had the local dealer install it.

The factory kit is the whole shift gate made of plastic.

B&M is a metal replacement that is retrofitted into the existing shift gate.

The service manager and I looked at my B&M replacement vs the factory and agreed teh B&M was a nicer quality.

Some people install these themselves, I paid $300 to have it done.

Buy the B&M from Bumberplugs....it is not that expensive

I installed the factory short shifter myself and like it. I also did the alcantara E-brake handle and shift ****/boot at the same time. Something to think about as the car is apart.
Of course that was before the alcantara was put on the endangered species list and the price went up. I think I paid a bit over 300 for the E-brake assembly and shift **** with boot.

Just got my OEM SSK kit in from SunCoast. Just need to install it!

Izzone, was that $300 price from a dealer?

I got mine from SunCoast, too.
Now I'd like to compare with B&M kit.

I paid the dealer $300 to install it plus $180 for the shifter from bumperplugs.

I have been too busy at work to try the install mysef, so went the lazy route

Chops, it is an easy DIY, takes about 2 hours if you take your time. If you ever do it a second time, it will take about 1.5 hours, max. B&M has a great set of install instructions.

If you go with the OEM short shifter, it will take even less time because you are swapping out the shift tower, which eliminates about 20 steps.

I have a factory SSK kit in mine. I really like it. I'd bet that you couldn't go wrong with either one.

I have driven both - after the Porsche is warmed up I prefer the Porsche short shift - but boy it takes a little while to warm up.
