Shift **** shredding my fingers
wow....what a dumb problem.
the metal, where it joins together on the front of the stock shift ****, is not flush with the other side. shreds my fingers as I shift. anyone else have this dumb problem?
any suggestions to fix?

Mine's doing the same thing. I suspect the gap has gotten larger over time which exposed the rough edge of the metal. I've just sort of re-trained my hand to shift differently to avoid contact with that area, but I still have problems when I'm out at the track and shifting furiously.
I don't have a solution, though.

McGiver would put duct tape over it!
Call the service advisor at the dealer. Explain that you think you have a defective shifter **** that is cutting your fingers and see what he says. You have nothing to lose and a new shift **** to gain.

My S4 shift **** was getting a little funky like that. I didn't notice to be truthful - it was very subtle. My SA noticed and replaced it under warranty.
No reason not to ask your dealer for a replacement.

Go to your dealer. I have the Macassar interior so mine is built differently,--perhaps the leather is not meeting the metal portion of it very well (or wearing).
