Ron, do you think the Porsche 09 Service Information book has a misprint?

You know, I'm thinking I've seen this before, where the upgrade sport sway is actually smaller in diameter. Might be it's more "solid" material (thicker walls) or maybe even solid steel. Or, it could be that because of the dampening rates and the massively strong springs (holy smokes, look at those progressive rates), you don't need / want too much sway strength? I remember when I had the Damptronics on my 07 C2S and upgraded H&R Sways, the rear end was unhappy at 9/10ths (fine at 7-8, but approaching 10/10ths was terrible). Bilstein suggested the rear sway was the problem. On the GT3, I started with the rear sway on 2 of 3 and it was not happy approaching the limit. Softened it up to 1 of 3 and it was much better.

I guess it's all a system - shocks, springs, sways...

Yes everything is a system. In my line of work (musicial instruments) guy are always trying to upgrade things on the instrument and they do not get the result they are looking for because they did not upgrade what I call the "system".

Like on a car it's hard to change just one thing have have it be perfect. parts are made to wokr with other parts and the "system" has to be compliant together.

Well put Mike.

Missed you at Sebring on the 13th, heard the dog was sick? Took your buddy Carlos/BabyMD for a few hotlaps (his first time).....afterwards, he had a big old grin on his face and immediately signed-up as a novice for the next Chin event (actually took place today).

You going to Homestead in Feb? I'll be up at Sebring quite a few times in 09.

Yes my dog passed away on Dec 14th that morning of liver failure. He was 17.5 years old. He was in the Florida Vet Specialist Hospital in ICU for 7 days. He got to come home 1 day then back for a few hours and he passed. He was my best friend. I've had him in my avitar for a few years now and decided to leave him up.
I would love to do Homestead as I've never driven there before. I will have to see how work goes. Not sure when I will be back at the track. I miss it and miss my friends at the track dearly.

see ya! Mike

Very true. This 997.2 runs much cooler than the previous gen. Takes at least 5 miles of driving for the oil temp needle to come off the peg. Previous 997's would routinely run well above 200*. Can't get the new car to register much above 180*, no matter how far I drive.

Do the 997.2 cars actually run cooler or did Porsche recalibrate the gauges? I know the water pump on the 997.2 cars has been moved to outside the engine and has 20% more flow capacity, but has the "normal" operating tempature actually changed?

Just got my copy of the 2009 Technik Introduction / Service Information manual. Very interesting stuff...

C2 brakes are "new" and the downside is they are closed-top. So forget changing your own pads. C2S get the same calipers from the 2005-2008 (yay!).

TPMS is a Gen. 2 totally new design. Both the sensors and receiver, systems, etc. are brand new and improved. Supposed to be much quicker and more accurate. Problem is, my Volks with TPMS sensors from 2007 won't work - I'll either have to sell them (don't need another set of track wheels) or upgrade the in-wheel sensors.

That is a mystery about the rear roll bar being thinner in the Sport PASM in the rear. Then again, it must be the progressive springs.

Interesting information coming out all the time on exhaust / bypass options. Hope to see Softronic available soon.

I ordered my copy from Carlsen in Redwood City, CA. http://www.carlsenporsche.com/access...05&category=24 But I would think any dealer has these in stock? I can report that Carlsen was fast and professional in handling the order.

Money well spent, chock-full of technical goodness. Details of all the changes in the 09's.
How much information is in there? number of pages? or is that just a mkt piece?

180 pages of highly technical information, data, diagrams, photos, etc. Way over my head... Definitely worth picking up.
