'08 Targa 4S...one of the great disappointments I've had. Absoulutely loved that car, but it creaked like the 3:10 to Yuma.

Loved the awd. Loved the Targa top. Drove around with it open nearly all year. Just could not accept the amount of noise coming from the creaky frame.

Would get another one in a minute if they could strengthen the body.

I never did know the pricing on targas these days. Are they priced more than the coupe? More than the Cabriolet? Somewhere inbetween? The cabs are routinely $10,000 more than the coupes, and the extra trainer wheels add about $10K as well, as I recall.

The BASE is 100K for the 4S

Mine has the odd creak once in a while, usually on colder mornings, but it doesn't last long. Once in a while I wipe down the front edges and that seems to help. Perhaps this is rationalizing, but in some ways, the car is so refined and magnificent that I am actually not bothered when I hear the odd creak. It reminds me that it isn't perfect.

For the 997.1, a T4S with typical options (full leather, SC, Nav, etc) was in the same ball park, perhaps slightly higher, as a similarly optioned C2S cab at around $105k.

Why does the Sock Puppet's girlfriend keep posting on this forum? Can't he write his own posts? Or has the 993 forum already rejected him?

When I started shopping the 997 I was leaning towards the C4S Targa. It's unparalleled good looks was the initial attraction. I test drove the 997S Conv and the C4S targa. Needless to say, my wife and I were both disappointed in the targa for two reasons. Firstly, the car felt much higher than the 997S, and secondly when the roof is opened you have very little rear window visibility. Granted, if I lived in a cold climate the Targe would probably be my choice since you can still enjoy the outdoor like sensation due to the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. In addition, the 4 wheel drive would be another factor for rain and snow. However, the track demon in me would still opt for the compromise of the S Conv.

The Targa is no higher than a cab or coupe. I agree with the impaired rear vision with sunroof retracted.
