Doubtful. Particularly on a PCCB equipped car. Contact the folks at the Tire Rack. They might have more information.

Boxster S brakes are the same as a 997 aren't they?

Boxster S (987S) brakes are basically 996S brakes, I believe. I think 997 brakes are slightly larger.

All current models (except the Cayenne) come with a can of sealant instead of a spare. I've used the stuff; it works and cleans up fairly easily with water. But it won't save you from a major puncture or sidewall failure or anything like that.

I can't speak directly to the question of a Boxster spare, but I carry a 996 spare tire in my 997S. I've used it on the car, and it works just fine.

Yes, will fit 997 brakes and will even fit over 997S front brakes with two or three millimeters to spare. Will not fit over PCCB. Problem: Won't fit in trunk without being slanted and rests extremely close (1/8 inch?!) to closed hood. Here is a 986 spare on a 997S

Thanks guys.

I went ahead and bought a Boxster wheel/jack/tools off of eBay.

I guess if they don't work for some reason, I'll put it back on eBay.

If it doesn't fit in the frunk, I'll just drop the back seats and strap it down on the deck like a dual-purpose car from the 1950s!

Check with Oklahoma Porsche Junk Yard. I bought
a spare there and it works.

Sounds like a plan.

Here's how the spare is officially configured by Porsche in countries which require spares if you want to sell cars there. I think that's a 986 style (fully inflated) spare

WTF, that’s an unacceptable solution.

Silly question...

Why doesn't Porsche offer the spare tire option (at a ridiculously inflated price) to give owners who are willing to put up with the interior storage problem some piece of mind on trips further than the corner market???????

My guess? It's distasteful and potentially embarassing to Porsche to officially acknowledge the lack of a spare tire. If you want one you can get one but you have to go thru the back door.

I'm headed around to the back of the house...

The wheels that I'm finding that were spares on the Boxsters were3.5j x 17
Tire size is T105 / 95r 17

offset et 19

Question.... Will this work on the car in an emergency? I'm running 19" wheels now...

Car is a 997 S

Any and all help is appreciated....

I've just realized that a major portion of this thread took place back in 2008.
Does this information still apply the the 2009 cars?
