PDK in heavy traffic?

Thanks for the input
Thought I should comment since I started this!
First thanks to all for the input. It is very helpful. Being in Malaysia I can't test drive PDK to judge whether to order it in a new 09Cayman or just buy an in stock 08 Cayman with tip. So really need the input here.
Knowing myself to be a bit heavy handed/ footed, there's a good chance my initial experience would be similar to lgascoig. With time I'd probably get used to it. Nearly everything I've read about PDk is positive, but just wanted to see if there were other opinions that would help in my situation.
Thanks again.

Yeah, I'm sure the discussion of tip and PDK seems like overkill. But it's significant to me cost wise. The price difference between an 08 base car with tip to an 09 with PDK is going to be around 60k RM, maybe more. At current forex that's about $ 17k so I'm fretting over it. In the end only I can decide, but getting views here on the differences is good.

OK here is a the deal...I've owned 2 Tip cars and now have a PDK. Just so you know the reason why I did not get a 6speed manual is I lost my entire left leg 5 years ago due to being hit while riding my motorcycle. I did have to Porsches with 6 speeds in 2000 and 2002 and before that my Vettes were manuals.
OK, so I can confidently tell you that the Tip is slow to shift, does not rev match on down shifts and is at least .5 sec slower 0-60, horrible in auto mode as it really lugs the engine. The Tip is not a very sporty transmission. If you have 2 legs I'd suggest you get a 6speed if you can not afford a PDK.
PDK is fast, no wait, super fast, rev matches on down shifts and is faster than what a human can do shifting a 6speed. Put the PDK in regular auto mode and is is very smooth, put it in sport mode and it is faster and more sporty, put it in sport plus mode and it is like a sequential race transmission.

What?!?!? The difference between a Tip car and a PDK car is $60K? You sure about that? PDK is a $4k option.

What I meant when I said harsher than the tip I borrowed (a Boxster) I meant that the car requires a much lighter pedal action or you go flying. I guess I am lead footed because for me especially in Sport or Sport Plus the car has two speeds, fast or slowing down fast. You're right between shifts there isn't a lurch or anything.
Even in normal mode, I'm still not used to it. As an example of a car which is easy to stop smoothly, my wife's ML 350 stops nice and smooth and I have only driven it for maybe a total of 20 minutes in 3 years. So driver versus car, yeah I don't know how to drive my car yet or it's a stiff *** car. All I am saying is that if you have to drive a lot in stop and go, I'd rather have something more comfortable like a Merc.

I'm in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Cost for 09 PDK is 585k Malaysian ringgit, delivery in June. Cost for 08 tip is 520k RM available now. Can probably negotiate the 08 down further. These are base Caymans. That's the difference in cost. After forex it's about $17k USD. You've owned cars with both transmissions so I value your opinion. And very sorry to hear about your accident. Thanks for your opinions.

2 things on the tranny choice- traffic in kl is bad, really bad. Some nice roads out of town but have to get there first. KL is on the west and I've flown over the peninsula to the east coast and seen some nice roads. At least they look good looking down. second is resale. I'm here for 3 to 4 years and then will move on, so will have to sell then. I wouldn't normally buy for the next owner, but nobody wants a manual here. The dealer does not import them for stock. Will only order them. Only one I've seen was a UK spec car. Porsches here are viewed as status items not sports cars. One of the things I want to do while here is a DE at the Sepang F1 track. Another reason to suck it up and wait the 6 months for a PDK.
