Default New Nav system

Has anyone heard whether the new touchscreen nav can be put into the earlier 997 cars?

No. it cannot. Not a Porsche OEM system for that matter.

I would suspect that it can be put in but it would not be a simple R&R of just that component. You would have to order the hard drive that goes with it, and perhaps a few other things.

Well, as Dan pointed out , you might be able to, but for HUGE money.

The entire center column would have to be replaced to accomodate the new touch screen, and controls. Ect ect.

But to what end? You'd never recoupe that $ in trade in or re-sale. Never. Actually a retro fit will hurt it's value.

Order a touch screen Garmin or Alpine unit. Better alt.

Think positive. No fingerprints to clean.

So it sounds like it is quite doable then. The process is simple, and requires no mechanical skill. Take your older 997.1 to dealer, trade in for 997.2 with nav.

All of our snarky comments aside, yes it can be done. The cost and what needs to be swapped is what interests us as well. If you get a price rundown from the shop, please let us know.

I am not surprised it can be done. The center stack has not changed its design. The original head unit used the MOST bus, which is an industry standard.
