Default IPOD install, does my PCM need to be recoded??

Ive just had and Ipod adapter fitted in my 2005 997 Carrera S.(not the Denison)The car does not have a CD changer, and from what I can gather the IPOD adaptor has been fitted into the CD changer socket on my PCM.The company that installed the adaptor is now saying that my PCM needs to be recoded by a Porsche dealer so that I can use the CD changer setting which in turn will allow me to use my IPOD.Is this true and is there a way to enable the CD changer setting myself???
