I thought this was a little weird because it would get other .9's i.e 16.9, and 15.9, etc., but NO 17.9.

I even tried coasting a bit, and then it would go from 17.8, straight to 18, and back once I was on the pedal for a bit.

I didn't buy this car for the gas mileage, and mileage is not what my concern is for posting this -- I am trying to understand if there is a software glitch in my car, or a design error, or ?

Oh, an my car is an 05 C2S manual
Are you using Canadian/Imperial Fuel volume? I think the option in the PCM is British gallon vs. US gallon.

I have mine on Canadian MPG and I just happened to be cruising across the Lion's Gate Bridge today and glanced down at the MPG - it was sitting at 17.7. So I sorta coasted on the long downhill run through Stanley Park....

17.7.... 17.8..... 17.9 No problem.

I guess those "averaging problem" solutions are out the window, at least for Miles per Imperial Gallon. Check your setting, you could be in for a pleasant uptick in your mileage numbers...

I hope Carfax never gets hold of that information. That could well be a deal breaker if you try to sell.

You need to get a mod or something to keep you busy mate. I'm doing the spring clay-bar treatment this week. Keeps my mind off philosophical questions such as this.

That's funny.
This is totally something that I would notice too. But I don't drive that slow.

Hmm, I think you got a lot of time on your hand worrying about .1 of MPG!

because if you hit 17.9 it opens a black hole in the universe and the whole world comes to an end.. sad state of events.
