Driver side mirror

Driver side mirror
Drove from Palm Springs to LA yesterday & it was windy in the desert. I heard a intermittent flapping sound in the breeze... pulled over and didn't notice anything obvious. The flapping subsided as I got out of the wind. While washing the car this morning, I noticed the driver side mirror was loose (it went up and down as well as the normal "in & out"). While locking it in to investigate, a piece of broken plastic came out and it's obvious there is an issue w' the mirror. Has anyone dealt w' this issue before? Any chance it's covered by warranty? ('06 car w' a bit less than 2 years warranty left). If not, should I get involved w' the dealer or go elsewhere?
Thanks,

Excellent use of written Cockney accent. 2-point bonus.
Definite warranty item. Take it to your dealer.
He should be happy to deal w' it.

I had this same thing happen to my 997 in one of those 'touchless' car washes after folding in the side mirror. When I snapped it back in to place a small piece of plastic broke off and the mirror was flaccid for lack of a better descriptor.
Brought it over to Alfie at Ira and everything was covered under warranty.

But that intermittent flapping sound is probably not related to the mirror. I've had a similar flapping sound when driving at high(er) speeds in high(er) wind conditions. It seems that when the airflow hits the car at a certain speed at a certain angle that it causes the liner under the front fenders to "flap" - at least that's my theory.
My mirrors are anything but "flaccid" but I can still be flapping in the breeze...

I get that flapping sound with speed above 65 and a good stiff cross wind. I think its the plastic under the car used for aerodynamics. I just turn up the radio now.
