Default Another PSE question

I know this has been discussed before but can someone please help me understand PSE I am looking at an '08 C2S loaded with options including Sport Chrono. The dealer is going to install the sport exhaust but not hook up the wires. I assume this means the "motor sound" is on all the time. I know a lot of guys prefer it that way but I think I would like the option to turn it off at certain times. From what I can find in the archives it seems there is a button that controls this? What would be involved in hooking up the wires?

Press the sport button and the 'sound' ( plus a few other things) comes on. There will be times (late at night; driving long distances with the wife) when you want it quiet. Trust me..Get it with the switch....GR

There are problems with the factory PSE switch Luus. One. Default is quiet. Two, even when switch is on loud there is a quiet mode superimposed at intermediate rpms supposedly to comply with some European country's noise regs. There is a hack some people have added which gives you what porsche should have delivered in the first place. Loud default, quiet with a switch.

Thanks guys, I think I would like to have it as installed by the factory which would give me an off option. Any idea what it should cost dealer installed?

Just wire directly to fuse box through a switch, skip the DME, and get off/on control at will, as many of us have done. My dealer did this for me!

I agree, but I'm not sure if Luus' dealer isn't installing the wiring because they don't have it, or because they don't want to bother. It is the most time-consuming part of the installation. If they have the wiring, I'd be tempted to ask them to at least get it installed into the rear passenger compartment. Then you can just ground the one ground wire and extend the power wire to the ash tray, through a new switch, and then wire to the fuse box to a switched power source. The dealer won't likely want to do this since it is not standard and requires creativity. I've attached a photo of my switch in the ash tray.
