Default Park Assist - the most important option...

Well, most important after "Porsche crest in headrest".

I used to chuckle about the idea of park assist with a Porsche until I rented a Volvo wagon with park assist a couple of weeks ago.

OMG this thing rocks! I want it!

Gotta chat with the dealer about retrofitting this on my '06 C2S.

No more worries about scrapping the front valance on curbs or sloppy parallel parks! Yeehaw! How come you guys been keeping this ingenius idea a secret?

(man, I gotta get out more often - I wonder what else I'm missing)

Parking sensors are only fitted to the rear of the car. As to the front valance/spoiler lip - you're on your own. But I agree in tight city parking where you park 2" from the next guy's front bumper it's a great help.

It's a big help but I don't think the sensors on the rear bumper look good.

Or you could just learn the length of your car and not back into stuff.
With an Expedition maybe, with a Porsche it just seems crazy IMHO.

We defintely see things differently though, as I think the Porsche Crests in the headrests are a complete waste too. I like options that actually do something.

Differences of opinion make the world more interesting.

An inquiring client asked me if Porsche puts back- up Camera's on the Carrera or Cayman.

I asked them, in quizicle look: "Are you serious?"

...and NO, the client wasn't handicapped.

Seriously people. TURN YOUR HEAD AROUND!!

I have found that this is a popular option for Londoners. Nearly every Carrera going to a custome there orders it.

We need an emoticon to indicate sarcasm. I woulda slapped a whole bunch on the OP.

Seriously - I'm not being sarcastic this time - really.

(but I am sad to learn that park assist only works on the rear - I just assumed that that little plug in the front bumper was for a park assist module)

This isn't a park assist sensor "plug"?

I loaded my 997 cab with options. The only two I wish I had ordered are park assist (the blind spot on a cab is huge) and multifunction sterring wheel. Live and learn. I had park sensors on my BMW 530 and loved them.

I agree that it would be useful on a cab due to the difficulty seeing behind when the top is up. Don't worry about the lack of MF steering wheel. It isn't that useful, especially given that the volume **** on the PCM is close to your right hand anyway.

I have them on our Cayenne S and they are useless. At least that's what my wife said when she backed into a Mini in the school parking lot. I asked her why she didn't hear the beeping and see the red warning lights. [sarcasm / off]
