Rear Lights
It seems like for the better part of a decade (1970's to late 1980's) the Carrera changed in appearance very little. Maybe the foglight position in the front valance changed a little or the front/rear bumper changed a little, but you didn't see the significant changes to the car in such short periods of time that you see in the modern cars. I wish they would preserve more than just the silohuette.
but the reality is the Car business has created a monster with changing cars so quickly. Consumers have become ADD.
At first glance, I prefer the 997.1 version over the 997.2 version. I also prefer the bodies of the late 70's and early 80's variants to the current shapes. Past experience has shown me that I get over that aversion and eventually come to embrace the changes. The newest look, that's different, frequently seems to provoke a feeling of resistance and dislike as a first reaction, at least in me.
But at the end of the day, as I'll mostly be sitting on the inside of the 997.2, I vastly prefer the interior and options I chose for my 997.2 over what was in the 997.1 or in the cars from the late 70's and early 80's. and that makes the look of the tail-lights or the shape of the hood much more bearable.

Apparently droopy taillights is the direction that Porsche is going with all their models. The Cayenne got them in 2008. I predict that the Boxster/Cayman will get them for 2010. I don't particularly like them either but I would be willing to live with them to also get the new 385 HP direct injection engine!
They don't look as good because they were never intended to look that way. They designed the car as a whole however many years ago and probably didn't think too hard about the mid-cycle face lift. A few years later it's time for a refresh and they had to do something...good, bad or ugly.
