I have never had a car that had a digital speedo display. It seems too blatant. I prefer analog. A small issue, but annoying in an otherwise wonderful car.,
I hear you, but the location of the analog speedo does not fall readily to my field of vision. I used to dislike digital speedos, but somehow I've adapted with this car.

For us old guys, the digital readout is my only reference to speed on the track and I use it...........agree with others about the location of the odometer.......not useful.

+1 ; also the calibration markings of the analogue are near impossible to read correctly - use it as the prime speedo and you WILL get a speeding ticket!
I started with the full analog 993, look at the tach, then look to the left and figure out where the speedometer needle exactly is.
Then the 996 with the digital under the analog which I find faster to read but I still had to look at the RPM then look to the left for the speed.
BUT NOW with the 997, where you see the Tach(engine speed) and the speed of the car in one glance I thought its brilliant! I could concentrate more on which gear to select(shifting faster).
New to Porsche & this forum. I have '06 C4. I would like to disable the digital speedo display. Is there a way to do this? The dealer says no.
The digital speed readout is extremely useful. PAG did it right having it smack in the center w/ the tach. During the 996 FL they moved it to the odometer and that was wrong, and they corrected it on the 997.
The analog speedo is nice b/c it balances out the instrument panel and follows tradition; but it is kind of useless otherwise. I just look at it to make sure the damn thing is working.
Porsche has essentially run out of space for essential information. There just isn't enough real estate to capture all the displays necessary. With the 5 gauges physically overlapped in the past 2 generations of Porsche "911s" they have removed a lot of their ability to display things. Reducing the analog gauge's operating area to only a portion of 360º circle AND taking us up to 200 mph the scale is unreadable. The 5 mph marks are useless. I pretty much stick to the digital now.
