38 now, 35 when I got the 997, and 19 when I bought my first 911.

I was 51 when I bought my first and current '07 997 C2. I am now 53.
If you don't know how to check the oil I would suggest you read the manual. As for changing the oil it's much easier than a BMW 3 series as you don't even have to jack up the car. Just use the shortest catch pan you can find, then reach under the engine and torque the drain plug and filter canister off. Wait awhile... put drain plug and oil filter canister (with new filter installed), back on and pour in the correct amount of oil.
