Have them on my MINI-S--great tiresfor "all-seasons". I would doubt if they are grippy enough for a Porsche unless for winter use in a bad weather climate.

You want the Bridgestone RE050A for your 997.

I just got a set and had to go through the dealer to get them. Dealer/Porsche has Tire Rack warehouse these, so the ONLY way to get RE050A's is via dealer at this point.

These are N0 rated and not to be confused with other "Pole Position" tires as they can seem the same.

I paid for 305/30/19 about $330. per tire and the 235/25/19 were in the $230-240 range. Still a whole lot cheaper than PS/2's and seem to do well for those that had/have them now and before.

The dealer will be able to get the 305's without any problems. It took about a week and one half to get the entire set. The dealer provided PCNA a VIN and the set gets shipped from Tire Rack. I didn't care as long as I got them and ended up with a good price when you figure in shipping costs which usually coats $120.00 to state of CT.

As for the 305's, no problem fitting them on "S" "Lobster" wheels with no spacer. Fills out the wheel well better and the type of tire just looks much better than the P-Zero's did. I wanted just a tad more contact patch, that's all.

So far, reading from other threads on the RE050A's, people really like them on the 997's and seem to wear well, perform better than some of the other tires which tend o be a bit over rated with the exception of pure track tires. For the street, the RE050A" seem to do well, ride nice, no noise yet (way to early).

My P-Zero's were very loud when worn down, almost as if they were singing to me "I'm done, change me or else".

I wonder how these RE050A's deal with flat-spots? P-Zero's were very easy to flat-spot even with Tire Cradles(tm), inflated to 60PSI for winter storage. At least when they warmed up, the flat spots went away for the most part.

Good luck in obtaining them, it took me a few weeks trying like hell to track them down only to find out there is an agreement with Bridgestone and PCNA.

In my first post I said for the 305's about $330 per and the 235/35's about 230-240 per. I'll have to check the invoice, but I remember they listed the 305's at $365.

Just paid $2200 a few weeks ago for new Michelin PS2s. No Bridgestones were available. Maybe next time.

Pirelli Corsa from the 997 GT3 is great, even in the rain.

I got a set of RE050's a month or so ago from Wheel Enhancement (I'm local to them), give them a call, I think they stock them.

I have the 960's on my A3 and think they are great for that car.
ps2's on my 997.

But I remember somebody on one of the boards tried them on a 997 and had them removed very quickly as the handling was not good.

They do not have them, as I tried prior. They DID have two sets, but were quickly sold. The sizes were the 305/30/19 and 235/35/19 versions which they do not know when more will come in.

But, ALWAYS shop around, after all, the worst you hear is "Sorry we do not have these in stock at this time". You may find some at a good price.

Still, after speaking to the dealer today, service manager informed me that Continental's are even harder to get in some sizes for Porsche AG, which Porsche AG now has Conti ordering PS/2's to honor the contract since they cannot ship the tires they make to them for production.

More and more times he said that tires are begining harder to find and now admit that as long as they fall within the same load levels, they may have to substitute tires in case of tire failures and they cannot get a replacement "N" spec tire. I guess the "N" spec not only has to do with handling, but liability for Porsche as well. They can always say to an owner in case of a crash that they did not have "N" spec's so don't look at us in your lawsuit.

Most of us know as long as they have the same load levels etc, more people are finding tires that work just as well or even better for less or close to same costs.

So now what? Do we become tire ****** and find as many we can get to put in our garages in case of flats?

Now, don't forget your $100 rebate from Bridgestone:

http://www.potenza.com/rpca.asp

One problem is they want original invoice, so if you can ask for a copy or duplicate invoice and send one to Bridgestone.

Glad you found them! And, let us know what you think of them!
