Default Can I kill that damn radio?

I skipped my visit to the gym today and hauled out the Owner's Manual and PCM Manual instead. I figure flipping that package around for a while is as good as three sets on the iron.

I'm trying to figure out how NOT to have the radio turn on on the PCM display.

90% of the time when I'm driving, I don't want to listen to the radio, yet everytime I start the car - there it is. The only solution I see is the Mute button. It's particularly irritating when on a road trip and the radio finds nothing but dead air.

Am I missing something here? Is there a way to lock in the preference to have the radio off/muted when the PCM is powered up or car started? I have the sport chrono pack.

The mute button is the only way.

Well, that's option 2 - but it doesn't solve the problem of being faced with an ear full of static (or unwanted preacher, hippy-dippy weatherman, gangsta rapper or ______ ) when starting the car, evertime you start the car on a road trip. The radio resumes a fixed start-up volume no matter what you had it set on when shutting down.

Also, if on a road trip - I may want to have some volume to hear nav announcements.

Seems barbaric, but it's nothing in comparison to that truly embarassing key, I suppose.

If people only knew all the hardships we Porsche people have to put up with.

It truly is a shame. But I hear there are some other fringe benfits to ownership.

Can you reprogram your key memory to have the volume all the way down? Not sure if that is tied into the memory feature given with power seats and sports chrono or not but I would guess yes if it always returns to the same setting.

And I was irritated my headlamps won't turn off by themselves. The crap we put up with!

Do you have Sport Chrono? If so when you program your key or seat memory be sure to turn the volume down when programing and then when you start the car you will not have the sound of the radio.

Sorry, in advance, since this is clearly an RTFM question, but ... Mike said "... have Sport Chrono? If so when you program your key ..."

I do not have memory seats so how (or where) do I "program [my] key"?
