My 08 997 base Carrera has a 19" wheels, and it has a significant wheel gap (to me since I'm always concious about it) compared to the already low Carrera S. By the way, why are the S low? Different springs than the base?

I lowered my Mercedes with a H & R Sport springs, but what brand do you guys recommend for the 997 and with which product? Oh, the spacers are the ones that make the wheels stick out from the car, right?

I wonder why all sports cars are not manufactured with the low springs when almost all the people get aftermaket springs.

Any good source for these? My 986 creaked badly at low speeds with H & R's. Any noise on the 997?

The S has the PASM suspension standard which lower the car 10mm.
The base car doesn't have PASM, it's available as an option.
You can lower your car with short springs or better with coilovers (a lot of choices for the base without PASM). The advantage of coilovers is the ride height is adjustable so you can set them up exactly to your liking. Also most of them are adjustable for rebound and dampening. The downside, they are more expensive than springs.

Go Eibach springs if you want to be conservative about the lowering.

my h&r springs have been great, the main reason I chose those over the eibach because they drop the car slighty lower.

If I was going to keep my car I would want to lower it and I would use H&R springs. All the Porsche GT3 springs are H&R...the H&R stamp is even still on the springs. Porsche has been using H&R in there cars for years.

I had H&R on my Carrera S (specifically H&R F/U/W PASM). They were great - make sure to get an alignment after installation.

The H & R's were too low for my neighborhood with the Aerosport (GT3) front bumper cover. I went back to stock but hated the look so I bought a set of PSS9Damptronics which allow me to adjust the ride height and counterbalance. There is a significant price difference between the 2. H & R springs are about $500., and about $2,500. for the PSS9/10's w/ Damptronic, a few hundred less without.

I also had my alignment set up more aggressive. My car is much more planted and cornering speeds have increased dramatically.

TechArt will lower your car the least. 15mm drop if your car has PASM, 20mm if you car does not.
