Default Nosebleeds

I own a '99 996 and I'm experiencing frequent nosebleeds while driving, but only when my wife is in the car. I was wondering if there are any service bulletins on this or DIY solutions. I am visiting this forum to find out whether this issue is particular to 996's, or are any 997's drivers reporting similar problems. Thanks.

No nosebleeds, but last week I found a french fry under my passenger seat, lightly salted. I searched the forum, but there was no service bulletin on this.

I discussed this with the dealer, but they wanted the car for most of the day.

I did eventually remove it myself, with a few simple tools I had in my garage. I will post the pics after I download them off my camera. Normally I'm not the kind of DIY guy, but this was very straightforward.

Actually I have had a few nosebleeds, but, as you say, they only occur when your wife is in my car.

Search under "ejector seat installation".

I've heard of this before.

I think it only occurs on the '99 996 though, especially when driving with your wife, and especially after you tell her she's fat.

There's more information in this thread:

I suggest taking some self-defense classes. In that way, you can move your head out of the way when your wife punches you on the nose.

You need to establish if it's when she is IN the car - or ON the car. Tie her securely on the hood for your next drive and see if the nosebleeds occur. I'm betting they'll be gone with her on the hood.

Do you have a tip? If you had a manual, BOTH of your hands would be occupied during driving and you wouldn't free up your right hand to pick your nose with. And don't tell us that was a scratch not a pick. We're not buying it.

One possible solution would be to add Adaptive Sport Seats and put the lateral support up to limit any 'backhanding' that could come from the passenger side.

If that doesn't work, consider using the cup holders as hand cuffs (someone here has a nice pic using this technique on their wife,....I just can't remember who).

I believe the Porsche Design Center just released a neat face guard for situations like this.

It looks like those 'pig noses' you buy at a fun/magic/costume store but it has the Porsche crest on it.

It stores in your glove box when you're wife isn't in the car.

Is this another variant on that "jerking while cruising..." thread?

I believe the new '08 997 allows you to delete the nosebleed option for as little as $36-99.
