Default Shifter boot removal

I'm installing a PSE switch in my console and am having trouble removing the shifter boot. The short shifter instructions just say to "unclip" it and lift up. Mine came up partially, but seems to be retained still. Any hints on how to remove it without damaging it? (where to pry, etc.)
By the way, thanks Edgy for the illustrated instructions for the Tooki install that you posted in early May. These helped in removing other console items, especially the leather side pieces which are definitely stubborn.

Just did a B&M shifter had the same problem. Give a sharp tug on the console side of the boot, thats where it snaps in . I pulled alot hard than I thought I would have too! But it came out nice!

It pivots at the back so start at the front near the dash and lift up.
