Default The Saga Continues

Mid to late March build put off till 4/9. Car sits for 20 days before being shipped. A quoted 2-2 1/2 weeks shipping time to Baltimore turns into 4 weeks. A 2 day quoted time frame from Baltimore to NH turns into 6 days. Its absolutely unbelievable. Car came in to Baltimore on friday and is now supposed to be here in NH tomorrow morning. With any luck I may actually get it before I have to go to work at 4pm.

How long did you wait from when you went into the dealership initially?

(I waited 9 months).

6 months from making the decision to purchase and 5 months from the order. There really is no comparison of your custom color car to my run o the mill CB C4S Dan. The reason I ordered in the middle of winter was because I didnt want to wait! If I wanted to wait I woulda ordered a Laguna Seca Blue (almost just like your car Dan) and also woulda waited for the 2009. Doesnt matter just continuing to vent and educate others thinking about ordering what a cluster f$%K it can be compared to what they tell you! Hope to start a new thread with pictures in a couple days.

Hang in there! I know how frustrating it can be when it seems like everytime you turn around there is something obstructing what should have been a very straight forward ordering, manufacturing, and delivery process. Perhaps when they begin to get feedback on how this aspect of Porsche sales is unprofessional they will turn to their Japanese counterparts (again) for guidance.

That really sucks - my car was an early March build and I've had it since 4/12. Try to push any resentment out of your head when you go to take delivery of the car. What's done is done and you shouldn't let it take away from your enjoyment of taking delivery of a really amazing car. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Believe me guys it will be worth the wait. I ordered mine July 17th 2007and did not pick it up until September 29th. It was painful for me as well. All my other P-cars were bought off the lot.

Well morning has come and gone and guess what the car did not show up. Another failed promise. So maybe it will be here tomorrow not bad 7 days to get a car 10 hours after telling me 2 days. The joke continues !

I had a similar experience with my first M3 (2003) which was Laguna Seca Blue. When I ordered that car, it took almost 6 months from order to delivery. Once the car was finally built and made it into port, it sat at the port for another 3 weeks before it was shipped. I only live about an hour from the port. It was killing me.

When I order my 2008 M3 Sedan this spring, order to delivery only took 5 WEEKS!!!!!!.

Sorry to hear about your order, I'm sure it will be here shortly, hang in there.

I'm sure some will tell you to be patient, etc. but I think this over the top. I have a low B.S. tolerance and this would drive me mad. We custom ordered our M3 with performance center delivery and pretty much everything happened according to the expected calendar of events (was around 6 weeks I recall). I wish Porsche had a similar program to let you know each step, culminating in a free educational track day with the delivery of your car.

I agree patience and don't worry it will be worth it is not really the point. A high end item to be sold like this blew me away. I really am a low maintenance person but I expected so much more. After all I wont be repeating this process very often if at all and thats not because of this experience but because of economics and finances. To alot of people and quite possibly me too this is a once in a lifetime purchase. Its a shame. Doesnt matter anymore will be picking it up sometime today . New thread and pictures maybe over the weekend!

OK I finally picked up my car today! Yes its awesome and I am very happy! However it didnt go off without one more hiccup! I find out this am that the 2K deposit I gave them in January never went through. They took my credit card and ran it bun never processed it. They never noticed until today and I never noticed so it was another last minute surprise! I asked for a further discount for the incovenience and hassle but that was a no go. Pretty surprised they didnt even throw in a couple trinkets to try and smooth things over either. Pictures and comments in the new thread as soon as I can.

I'm sorry, but you want a discount because they didn't charge your credit card for the deposit? They already GAVE you a discount by not holding on to your money for almost six months.
