Plans for a 997 S Gone...Arrrgghhh! Dream reluctantly put on hold.
Even driving away from the Leipzig plant in our new Cayenne Turbo I felt like I was 'settling' as it wasn't a 911 variant. Waited patiently.....always refining which model of 911 to buy and what options. Then we ended up getting buying a new M5 before we left Germany for Vegas. Great car...still not a 911.
My wife started doing triathlons so I finally saw my garage coming together. We'd sell the M5, buy a truck for her to get to her triathlons, I'd still drive a Mini around town and I'd finally get the 911. I settled on yellow, black rims and most of my options. But even with a 3 car garage, parking the Mini and truck together is VERY tight (see below) and leaving any car outside is non-optional. More than that, I just can't bring myself to drop $100k into a car when I could take that money and buy into battered stocks. When we bought the Cayenne I looked at what that $100k would be worth had I invested it in our target stocks. Didn't get me too far depressed because money is there to be enjoyed. However, with stock prices so low as the main reason, and my garage situation as the very minor second reason....I just can't pass up the opportunity to invest it and wait.
So I'll continue to troll this forum and live vicariously through you all. Now that the GT2 is close, shouldn't the next version after the 997 be close? I'll probably stay invested in wherever we put the money for at least 2 years. Maybe I can turn that $100k into a little more and buy more car?

Dan - the envy of everyman. I don't envy Ralph Lauren - 'cause I can't imagine his life ..but I can imagine my old Devin in one bay, the '54 356 in another ..but alas, the S.B. city council would not give me a residency permit. Good for you Dan.

Check out Mitch's garage. This is the one you should envy.
