Default antenna question

On my 2005 997, what is the "rubber duck" antenna , located on the back of the roof, used for?

It's strictly for AM reception enhancement. It is a no additional charge antenna from Porsche and 98% of the time left off today's modern cars. If your car was a cabriolet that antenna would appear on the right front fender.

Sounds like a satellite radio antenna (XM/Sirius), but on an '05?
