Default Biggest Surprise About MY09 997?

This is one of those launches that feels like we already know every detail of the new car - DFI, PDK, touchscreen nav - that I wonder whether Porsche will spring a real surprise on us.

If that's the case what would surprise you? (If you're a cynic let me say that the price WILL go up so no surprise there!)

What would surprise you?

After all of the rumors (facts?) flying, I think it'd be a big surprise if the 09s DON'T get all the things you mentioned. I'm also sure ipod connection will be included, would be surprised if it wasn't.

Yea, but look how long it took them to put the most over engineered cup holders in a 911.

The surprise that I predict will be the addition of a launch control mechanism a la GT2 to other 997 models.

I am hoping for new and exciting paint colors. I think current Porsche color selection is minimal and boring.

And those cupholders are cr*p too! Mine broke on delivery as the sales-guy was showing me how they worked.

Yea, I never use them anyway, too busy enjoying the car. Wife is not even allowed to have anything in them except water in a closed bottle, or face being stranded by the road.

I just hope they add more HP and better handling. When I keep seeing articles such as "GT-R SPANKS Porsche Turbo and Vette Z06". Pesky Japanese automakers are beating our favorite cars with ones that handle better and faster for less $$. More geared for the "video gaming" market drivers, it's still upsetting to see this happen.

I'm sure Porsche is fully aware of the GT-R and how it may drive some sales away.

I hope it is lighter. That would be a surprise worth trading up for!

I agree the cupholders are pitiful, but my kid loves them.

I'd like to see a tow-bar option so I can hitch up my Hobie.

May be a X51.5 Power Kit that is close to GT3 output and costs around $15K

How about a 300lb weight reduction, 35% increase in power, tow bar, kitchen sink, microwave, lower price and 15% off each and every 911. How about that?

Keep dreaming!

Seriouly, I hope Porsche keeps up the great reliability we all enjoy with these cars. You can take these cars in stock form to the track and drive the heck out of them and still not reach the full potential and drive them home and to work the next day!

Personally I am hoping for PDK (dual clutch semi manual paddle shift transmission aka Ferrari F1) with superb realiability. I would alos like to see some factory option geared towards the driver education track guys like me and many others. These options would include front rotors 2 piece with slots instead of holes, lowered suspension, the ability to dial in -2 camber. Tie these options in with the nice tech-equipment rool bar and GT2 or 3 seats with some special Porsche graphics and you are set with a heck of a dual purpose car.
