I was somewhat shocked I think. 911 GT2 vs. Z06 in straightline speed
A very cool 5 minutes or so:

I would NEVER own an american car, much less a vette, but have to admit that in a straight line, that car is a beast

Pretty cool vid. Thanks for sharing.

Those Brits sure have a way with words. Pretty funny.

That GT2 smoked that Z06 each and every time. It wasn't even close.

"I can't believe how fast he's disappearing!"

I don't think that Z06 was running quite right. All of the 'other' tests of that car show 0-60 <4 secs and 0-100 around 8 secs.
Believe me, I'm not a Z06 fan, but I don't think that particular car was an accurate representative.

Nice video, thanks for posting. Interestingly, they couldn't get anywhere near the factory claim on the Z06, but came within 5-hundredths in the GT2.

But it might be accurately representing quality typical of a GM product.

I know, but they don't have RMS problems.

I really thought it would be close....I didn't expect the GT2 to walk the Z06 like that.

GT2 is a beast.

I'm a Porsche guy but Vettes do have their attributes.

Some GM product is pretty good. The Duramax diesel in the HD trucks is a great package.

My favorite quotes from the video:

1) "Even though it has the suspension of a light goods vehicle"
2) "The bonnet appears to end in a different timezone. It's miles away."
3) "That is mentally fast"
4) "Why don't you just go...and I'll well...go"
5) "That bloody thing is so fast"
6) "And I know which one I'd rather do 180 in"
7) "It's stilll...It's still disappearing"
8) "Victory for the germans once again.....it even looks quite nice"

I think i could watch that video 10 times in a row and not get bored.

And you did?

I don't know, but I'd be willing to bet that by any measuring stick there are more reported problems for a Vette than for a 997. And some that may not even be reported by owners who shrug off a minor defect or failure as something to be expected, and something they might be used to if they're regular GM customers.

Porsche owners are typically more demanding of their cars' quality, and will report the slightest annoyance or squeak they hear and demand that it be repaired under warranty no matter what.
