Helpful tip on SSK
When I first installed my B&M short shifter, the car shifted great and felt perfect. Months later the shifter become a bit sloopy and I began to have difficulty getting 1st and reverse. This led me to last nights project...
I removed the center console (PITA) and re-adjusted everything. I played around for a while with both cable end fittings (ultimately moving them approximately 1/8th inch back) and then readjusted the set screw. Went at it for a good half hour just making sure that things lined up perfectly.
Needless to say the gearbox feels better then it ever has. I'm not sure if it was the synchros that caused the sloppyness but the adjustment after about 5 months of driving was exactly what the SSK needed. For any of you who noticed a a difference in feel after a few months of using the SSK, I would highly recommend making these adjustments.
