Why?? (have the rear spoiler up - rv)

In a sense I understand your question, but this is quite a harsh indictment for some dude who was simply operating a feature that is standard on any non GT/TT 997. You used the word practical - since when are aftermarket wheels that perform no better or weigh no less that factory wheels practical? How about big honkin wings on cars that weren't designed for them, or GT3 front bumpers on a Carrera S, or S tips on a non S car, etc, etc.? While this guy driving around with his factory spoiler up at 30mph might not qualify him as the most unaffected 997 owner around, surely he is no more a poseur than the hordes of 997 owners who begin bastardizing their cars beyond recognition as soon as they get their hands on them. Unfortunately, lots of folks acquire these cars more for the impact they might have on others than on themselves, and they often ruin wonderful cars in the process, going to great lenghts to stand out.

Why would someone driving in traffic which moves at about 30 mph, in an ambient temperature of approx. 25F, have the rear spoiler up? I've seen this car a couple of times, same location on Lake Shore Drive with the wing up. It's a C2S/C4S and also has a bee sting aerial. Does this guy have erectile inadequacies and a need to compensate? Or am I missing something much more practical?
I like the spoiler better down, but when she drives it if it keeps her happy and she thinks it looks better to raise the spoiler so be it.
She wants me to buy a fixed wing, but the car cost me enough already, I don't need to spend more on add-ons.
As for the original poster, who cares, if he likes the spoiler up, he paid for the ride, let him play.
Would you tell my wife she is overcompensating for sexual incompetence?
Maybe that was why she liked driving my previous 505hp Z06?
Just breaking your *****!!!

Thanks Howard, nice pics (car too); I was kidding though.
Maybe the guy had it up by mistake and was not trying to make any type of statement at all? And do you really think leaving it up after a drive facilitates cooling?
