So, did you put it there to keep the termites out? It must have created an interesting smell in the car, pleasant and fruity at first, rotten after a while?

You just had to mention your loaded orange trees to offend the easterners here, didn't you! (I have oranges on my tree too).

Great news! It wasn't an orange at all. It was a lemon!

Ow, the bitter taste of reality.
But, like they say, when life serves you lemons, make lemonade.

Dan -
I've been thinking about this whole lemon thing - yeah, I have better things to be doing with my time, but nothing exceeds like procrastination.

At first you believed it was an orange. Subsequent investigation (DNA ???) suggested that the deceased was in fact a lemon: the decayed condition of the fruit had thrown initial investigations off 'the scent.'

So, when did this lemon get under the seat? Do you recall a specific instance of carrying lemons in your car? Isn't it just possible that the lemon in question is in fact a GERMAN lemon and not, I repeat NOT, and American lemon (no offense meant to General Motors,...well, I can't say that with a straight face).

Now,...if you're still following me and reading this, you are likely very disturbed or new to the forum.

Would you agree that the following scenario is quite possible and in fact very likely given the fruit in question (no, not the owner and not Coochas): Porsche factory workers had finished their work for the day. These dedicated workers had spent the past few months manufacturing 10 different hues of gray, black and silver 997 models in a setting resembling George Orwell's 1984 or the original Apple Computer ad. Behold, a Blue Turquoise baby is born. The Porsche factory workers celebrate as the celluloid background comes alive in color a la Wizard of Oz. They love that new Blue Beauty and celebrate by cracking open a few bottles of Hefeweizen. Ummmm, forbidden Hefeweizen (note: Atkins rolling in his grave). Now, I ask you Hefeweizen drinkers out there: what do you put in a giant glass of Hefeweizen???? Yes, that's right,.... a lemon.

Oh Yes, this is by far the most likely explanation of that decomposed composted citrus impinging on your airbag sensor. In a drunken haze of celebration in that Blue Turquoise beast, a solitary German lemon snuck aboard that 997 preparing for a 180-mph tour of Europe and subsequent slow boat to America reminiscent of the Ellis Island era.

The rest is history...

So,...expect a call from Customs: I think they frown upon the whole fruits & nuts thing.

Since I grow lemons I'm sure it was part of a lemon delivery I made weeks ago (who counts individual lemons?) and thus, the errant lemon is born. I'm sure California Lemon Laws were written specifically with an exclusion about those who transport lemons for business...
