Default Skid Plates - Front Bumper

The new car is coming soon and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with skid plates to prevent scraping of the front bumper on inclines, driveways, etc.

Automotion sells two different models: the Boomerang (in stainless steel) for $360 and another model in ABS plastic for $209. They don't list availabiltiy for my car ('08) but do have it for an '05 and I suspect it would be identical.

The new car is black and I'm not sure that the stainless model will look right.

Does anyone have either of these (or another product)? Do they work?

Thanks.

David

I just received this part from them. Unfortunately, I just added the Techart lip and it no longer fits. I'm about to ship mine back for a refund, but otherwise, it looks like a good part. Not a $200 part, but a good part.

I've been thinking about doing something like this forever. Looks like an excellent idea, just not a $200 idea. I think aluminum would probably last long enough and that would be a whole lot cheaper and easier to fabricate. Unless you're really into slamming your nose on the ground.

I ordered and returned the ABS model. Installation would have been a PIA and it didn't fit the contours of the car very well. You need to remove the front bumper to get it on I believe.

I added this some time back. Do a search for skid plate. I used the ABS one,--included photos. You should add a couple more fasteners.

Here it is: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ght=skid+plate
