Default Squeaking Clutch

I have 14k miles on my 2007 997(not an S). I have babied my clutch since new. About 2 weeks ago, I began hearing a squeak when taking off from rest but it can only be heard with sunroof or window open. Does not happen all the time.
Anyone else have this problem/issue? Is it new clutch time? Will my dealer give me a hard time on the warranty coverage issue?

In most cases, clutches are considered wear items like tires and brake pads. However, in some cases, it it can be determined that there was a fault with the materials or if it was installed incrrectly, it may fall under warranty.

I have this exact issue and don't know what it is. In my case it kind of sounds like a harmonic metal on metal rubbing noise that only lasts for a second or two, and it only happens when letting out first gear from a stop. I'm wondering if it isn't a brake caliper sticking for a second...??

Clutch feels strong, so I doubt it needs replacement.

I have the exact same issue on my 2006 997S. I took it in once and it wasnt repeatable. The car needs to be driven for awhile before it makes the noise. Its very annoying and I plan to take it in again soon...likely a warranty adjustment and nothing serious.

I don´t have a noise but the clutch feels ligth and it seems like it would broke anytime...Is that the case, is there a better option than the original part? For the record, my car is a 2005 997s with almost 15k

I had the sqweek sound whenever the clutch was pushed in or let up at about 8k miles. The dealer took car of it; never heard it again. I think it s a know issue wih a simple fix. I didnt bother to ask where the noise came from.

I hear the same squeak on a 2006 997 cab with 10K. It almost sounds like the clutch pedal is coming loose.

It is probably the "clutch helper spring" which is there to decrease the the effort required to push the clutch pedal down.

I had the dealer check on my clutch early last month. Of course, the mechanic could not hear the noise despite a couple of test drives. However, my clutch was pronounced healthy.

The noise is an engagement noise; not a spring noise. It sounds like it is a belt slipping but I know that it is not a belt. It only happens rarely; perhaps once or twice every other day. It is difficult to hear unless a window or the sunroof is open.

Do these cars ever need a new clutch after 15-20K miles from regular driving? That sounds rediculous.

I started a thread about this exact situation a few months ago. The noise you describe sounds like the same thing that my car has been doing. I would describe it as a "whir" in first gear and only when letting out the clutch after a stop. Only lasts a few seconds. Not loud. Not reproducible, doesn't happen all the time. It does not sound like normal gear whine. I'm having a new clutch put in today or tomorrow, and I can give everyone an update later this week on whether that fixed the issue.

Same with mine. Diagnosed as a problem with the clutch release fork (common according to my dealer). They had the car for two days to repair it under warranty. Now silent again.

I just got my car back from the dealer on Friday. To address the noise they installed a new clutch. Not sure if the release fork is part of a new clutch kit. Just from driving it a few days this weekend, the noise seems to have completely disappeared.
