Default Locating wire E-6 on DME for Traqmate RPM sensor

This is for a Cayman S, however I thought this the best forum to pose this query. I've found information that the #1 engine pulse wire is E-6 on the DME for 996/997 cars. On those cars the E plug is the most outboard plug, however the DME is mounted vertically on the driver's left rear firewall on the Cayman, with the plug side of the DME facing towards the center of the car. I'm not sure what the orientation is for the 996/997 DME to translate the information.

My question is which plug is plug E, and how best to locate wire E-6. Thanks, and Happy Holiday

I tapped into my obd2 wires - the obd2 pins are apparently manufacture specific so may work for the Cayman too

That connection is no longer on the OBD II connector as of 987 and 997. The PIWIS tester now gets that information via the CAN network from the DME.
I don't think he has any other choice than going to the DME unless he has the Stopwatch option (which brings the correct signal from the DME to the stopwatch).

As Loren said the OBD2 won't work for this car. However, I figured it out. Plug E at the DME is the top grey plug on a Cayman. I tapped wire #6, green with a blue tracer and set the "number of cylinders" under "setup" in Traqview to 1, not 6, which gives the correct RPM multiplier. RPM is now being logged correctly.
