Default Shouldn't there be an option badge on all 997s?

I went to look at a 997 and noticed there was no white factory option badge underneath the bonnet. The dealer explained maybe the previous owner removed it. That seems like a bunch of hooey but maybe I didn't know the 997s came with one.

Am I wrong??

There should be an option sticker on the inside front cover of the Maintenance Manual. I also recall reading here that Porsche stopped putting the sticker under the hood and year or so ago. However, I am not sure if that is true or not, as I have a 996.

Sometimes the sticker is loose with all the manuals. If so, then you can afix it to the underside of the hood or in the maintenance manual which has a designated area for it.

I believe the dealer puts them in your book or under the hood. IIrc they used to supply two of them , 1 for under hood and the other for the booklet.

So if the bonnet badge is optional for the 997 only? I've always used that 'trick' to test for a frontal damaged car.

For the 997 the option sticker is not affixed from the factory. You can do that yourself or your local dealership can do it. They find it loose inside the manual.

My option sticker is on page 1 of the Maintenance Manual which has a block for the ID sticker to be affixed by the dealer. Sticker contains VIN No., engine and transmission code, type of car, paint and interior color codes and optional equipment.
