Default PCM/Nav problems when trunk full?

on two separate occasions, i've had problems with my PCM and Nav where they basically stopped working. once, the PCM shut down by itself and i had no radio. just this weekend, i was getting Nav errors where it wouldn't calculate routes, sometimes saying "DVD Unreadable." both times, i had the trunk filled with bags. did a search and couldn't find anything except someone posting something about Porsche offering AC in the trunk to mitigate overheating of CD and DVD. but here, it was relatively cool and the problems seemed to start immediately (i.e., not after extending driving where heat could've built up in the trunk).

i am taking the car in, but just wanted to see if anyone else had similar issues. btw, it's an 05 launch car. TIA.

I have driven several hours with my kid's duffle bags packed in the trunk when hauling her back to school... on the other hand, I've been careful not to block the air vents in the NAV DVD player.

I could see how stuff jammed up against the (inconveniently located) NAV DVD drive could potentially cause disk-reading issues, yes, sir...

Let us know, 'k?

Early 997s (Launch Cars included) had some static electricity (poor grounding) problems in the front ECU. They also suffered from some PCM problems which was corrected by installing a later version PCM (SOS button).

I'm not suggesting these areas are the cause of your problem but it might be something to mention to your servicing dealer when you bring it in.

Let us know what happens . . . . Good Luck!

If anyone knows how to pack a trunk I do. Dispite this, I've never had a problem with the navigational system due to the trunk situation. As earlier mentioned, there were a couple of early production issues (hence the reason never to buy the first year's production cars) with the electronics up front.
