Correct me if you guys has different opinions, but this is what a lot of track guys in Europe says.

A few months ago Excellence had a tech article on oil. Talked about how the oil was not just for engine lubrication but also it needed the light oil for hydraulics of the engine. Some had had engine trouble using too heavy an oil. I think it concluded you should go no heavier than 5W-50.

And if that is your inclination - Strauss Discount Auto has it on sale this week - Castrol 5W-50 $4.39/qt.
