I am replacing my steering wheel with a gt3RS wheel and I thought it would be nice to have a silver badge instead of the gold one. Does anyone know if this is even possible? I know some earlier boxsters came with silver horn badges, but I have no idea if it is even the same size?

I am not sure if this is easily accomplished. I don't recall if the badge is riveted or glued on. Just make sure you apply the are silver badge in the same manner as the gold badge. In the event of an accident, and the air bag deploys, you certainly do not want the silver badge becoming a projectile which is aimed at your face.
However, on the lighter side, you could end up with a porsche crest embossed into your forehead. At least then when you order future P-cars you could forego option XSC - Porsche Crest in Headrest. That would truly be redundant!
Seriously, be careful if swapping the badge yourself.

The dealer says that I have to replace the entire airbag unit. I am not sure if there is any other way. I know it is riveted. My new wheel has the horn pad/badge in place but is without the airbag. Apparently, you pop out the old airbag and put the other one in. (I will have a dealer do this) It seems to me that the rivets could be removed and a new one put in its place, since the airbag is not in it yet. I would be interested in seeing what Eric is up to with this.
