Some notes from the R&T test of the C2S in 2005:
At the test track, the Carrera S posted some awesome acceleration numbers: zero to 60 mph in 3.9 sec. and 12.3 to the quarter (we got a 4.4 and 12.8, respectively, in a previous test). These numbers were so extraordinary that we took the car to MD Automotive in Westminster, California, to measure the Carrera S’s output on the dynamometer. No steroid controversy here, the car came away clean. The only explanation for the difference in acceleration times is that this particular engine had a proper break-in period (it had 5400 miles on the odometer as opposed to the 1200 miles on our previous test car).

Nonetheless, I believe the non-s version is a formidable surgical instrument capable of amazing speeds in the hands of an expert. ANY Porsche enhances the driving experience and indulges the senses!

Comparing coupe to coupe, 6 speed to 6 speed, best and worst #'s (0-60 and Q/M Traps)
C2
best 0-60 4.3 QM 109.0mph
worst 0-60 4.6 QM 106.2mph
avg 4.5 107.6
C2S
best 0-60 3.9 QM 114.8mph (R&T did not indicate this was an X-51 car but a regular S)
worst 0-60 4.6 QM 109.0mph*
avg 4.25 111.9
It appears the "S" really shows it's stuff in the trap speed or as speed increases past 100.
*used the slowest trap speed, as the test w/ the 4.6 0-60 had no trap speed listed in its QM data.

Ding...ding..ding..we have a winner. I was wondering when someone was going to mention trap speed. The S wins handliy when it comes to trap speed. A car that can run 111+mph in the 1320 should be capable of mid to low 12's in the 1/4.
