R8 vs Targa4S drag race

Before anyone goes completely mental...nothing definitive here. R8 R-tronic vs Targa4S Tip. We chose these two because they were the same price and both were on the Canadian press fleet.

Yeah Michael,
we were giving Laurance a hard time that day at our GTG when he said he was taking that T4S with a tip to a drag race with the R8...talk about picking one of the slowest and heaviest Porsches!
BTW: when are you going to be rejoining the p-car brotherhood?

there's no question that the better match up would be a GT3 and the R8. But the Targa was $156K which lined up with the R8's $160K when comparably equipped. The interesting thing is that the R8 is every bit as comfortable as the heaviest and best-riding 911 but it's performance is more on par with the GT3.
At times the Targa4S was my favourite daily driver 911. For the money though I'd be in the R8. Of course now that the 911 starts at $93K and the R8 starts at $139,900...well that's a different kettle of fish.
As for rejoining the cult of P...I'm always looking. Have a Liebherr fridge to pay for at the moment though.
