OT: Ferrari 550...how reliable are they?

It just takes a deposit and some patience. You can do it if you really want to.

After reading the article, the cost of Ferrari ownership is not as bad as I thought. A lot of the expenses were on tires and cosmetic repairs/upgrade rather than actual breakdown of the car.

I can't speak for the 550, but two friends of mine have 360's and have spent almost nothing on the cars in two years. Service is expensive, but the 360 is one of the most reliable cars Ferrari has ever built. You are looking at $1 a mile to drive this thing. I love mine, but may change my mind if the engine blows!
